"Cancellations"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I have been visiting the Eye Clinic, but was supposed to go on the 13th August 2015.

However, I had a letter to say that the appointment had been cancelled and I would hear shortly.

I rang to see when my new appointment would be, and I was told that there were no appointments until December.

I still have not heard.

I find it a bit alarming when the specialist says they must see me in so many months, to find that the appointment is extended by a further four months.

On looking through the file I keep regarding my appointments, I find this has happened on no less than seven times.

At one time I was accused of cancelling the appointment myself, which I never did. Why do they continue to make appoints and then cancel.

This must cost the NHS a lot of money having to send out all these extra letters.

We are really sorry to hear how many appointments you have had cancelled and that you still have not received an new date for your latest appointment. We would like to look into your concerns so we can improve our service for future patients. If you are happy for us to do so, please send me your details (full name, address, date of birth and NHS number) - Martin.Watts@uhl-tr.nhs.uk - and I’ll look into it.

Kind regards,
