Hi just wondered how long it takes to receive results from MRI scan I was referred by the neurological department at Salford and had scan at Salford on 18th july and have not heard anything have tried ringing but reception can never get an answer they tried a few numbers it willwbe six weeks this weekend is this normal?

Hi Susan, many thanks for raising your concerns. I have spoken with the manager for the service and they have responded to confirm that Radiology is currently experiencing a backlog in reporting due to the high volume of MRI requests which this department receives.

The department is working hard on a solution to improve report turnaround times and we are prioritising all urgent scans - we apologise for the delay with your report, if you have still not received it, you may also wish to contact our PALS service at pals@srft.nhs.uk or telephone them on 0161 206 2003 so that further enquiries can be made.
