"My mother (71) was seen by paramedics ..."

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

My mother (71) was seen by paramedics at c11.30pm last night as a result of severe pain in her back. She was given 2 morphine injections whilst in the ambulance, which then drove her off to hospital without updating my father (76) on what was happening. He was subsequently phoned at 3.30am to say that she was ready to be collected from the hospital and he duly dressed and went to get her.

What way is this to treat 2 elderly people? I am incredulous.
