"MS Nurse Consultant"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Lumbar puncture 25/08/2015 09:15

I arrived at D41 ahead of my appointment time to find that I had to wait till calls were made to find out where I should be as a decision had been made to move me. Fair enough, but had the staff been made aware of this prior to my arrival, my admission would have been a lot smoother. In saying that, I cannot fault the staff - they were very concerned about my comfort and wellbeing. I was escorted to a ward on E floor by a charming doctor where I was introduced to the delightful breath of fresh air that the nurse consultant. Despite further frustrating administration problems getting me admitted and also having to track down my files, the nurse consultant and doctor were absolute professionals while still being concerned that I was comfortable and kept informed all the way. My procedure ended up being performed an hour late and trickier than anticipated because of my condition which made it that much longer for them. However, I was treated with dignity and compassion throughout by these two wonderful people who I feel were just as let down by the lack of communication and administrative management as I was.
