I had a consultation with a doctor and I was happy with that. But I have been very dissatisfied with the follow-up service (or rather the lack of it). I was CC-d a letter sent by the consultant to my GP which stated that my ANA test was positive with a titer of 1 in 640. From what I have found from researching online, this result means that it is very likely I have an autoimmune disease, which might explain why I have had so many chronic aches and pains in the last few years. But the letter also stated that no further rheumatology input was needed. I at least wanted to speak to someone to find out what the positive result might mean. When I phoned up the rheumatology department, I was told a consultant would phone me back. But no one did. Over the next week or so, my wife and I phoned numerous times but each time we only got through to a recorded message saying there was no-one present to take the call. Finally I left a voicemail giving my name, address, phone number, and a reference number, and asking for someone to return my call. That was over a week ago and no-one has got back to me. All I wanted was to have one more brief consultation with a rheumatologist, either in person or by phone. The consultant said during my consultation that I could see them again if I wanted. But evidently that was not true.
