"A&E Visit"

About: Lister Hospital

I had called 111 who sent an ambulance due to chest pains.

A thorough examination was given at home which led to them saying I wasn't having a heart attack but blood tests in A&E would be best thing to do.

Upon arriving at A&E, I was taken to a waiting area to be seen.

I was there for an hour before being called for triage.

Despite the busy department, the staff all were doing their jobs to the best of their ability.

Even when a teenage girl started shouting at them over how long it was taking to get pain relief.

Thankfully, all my blood tests came back clear as did the 2 ECG's done in A&E.

Doctor discharged me, telling me if it happens again to call 999 straight away.

Only one complaint I would make about my visit is that in an environment where communication is key, having staff able to speak English clearly would be a good idea.

I struggled to understand the person who called me from the waiting area.

But that is just me being very picky.

It sounds like you received great care at the hands of our emergency department colleagues at the Lister recently - we're glad that it was all turned out okay.

We'll pass your comments on to to them and in the meantime, we very much hope that you have no need to make a return journey any time soon!
