About: Salford Royal

This morning my disabled husband has an appointment at physiotherapy at the Royal Salford The appointment was made over the telephone so no letter!

We have been unable to discover exactly where in the hospital the department is as the map on the web only gives colours and meaningless symbols!

He has just left home as we are an hours drive form Salford - too early for the hospital information line. He does not walk well and faces a long walk from the car park and not being sure of exactly where to go in the hospital buildings. By the time he gets to the department I know he will be in severe pain.

I know it may be old fashioned but surely it would be easier to put physio, cardiology, renal etc on the map and save all this unnecessary anxiety!

Thank you for taking time to raise this with us.

We're sorry to hear about the problems you have reported.

We've had a look at our website and have outlined improvements on how visitors, such as yourself, can find and use the maps to show you where you need to go.

We are also going to remind staff who book appointments with patients over the phone, to let the patient know exactly where they need to go (building, floor level) for their appointment, so any anxieties about coming to the hospital can be reduced.

If you, or your husband, do wish to take this further and share some further details with us, please could you contact our PALS service on 0161 206 2003 or email them directly on pals@srft.nhs.uk between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30, Monday to Friday.

Thank you.
