"Appointment system"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Wednesday 19/8/15, A doctor friend asked me if my appointment for ENT had been given I replied no, they suggested that I ring ENT to ensure it had not gone astray as it was now a month since my visit to my GP who had advised me it would be about a month before I would get said appointment.

I rang ENT explained why I was ringing, was immediately told with what seemed some sort of glee that waiting time for apointments was 14/15 weeks, again reiterated that I was checkiing that referral had been received and that appointment letter had not gon astray, again told apointment waiting time 14/15 weeks. Asked them to check if they had received referral, was asked to give name, dob, address & mobile phone no. informed them I used a land line & verified number.

Was then told no referral had ever been received, I have had this health problem for over four months, but was told I would have to go back and take it up with my GP, so much for "early diagnosis"

I rang the Surgery, informed them of above, they informed me that referral sent to Royal on 27th July 2015 and indeed acknowledged by them of receipt. Where does this leave me? unlikely to get an appointment before Christmas.

This is not the first time I have been dissatisfied with

ENT each time in relation to appointment it seems nothing has changed in over 10 years, however this does nothing to help me. My question now is would I be better to save up and go to a private consultant.

Dear A Dumford,

Thanks for taking the time to post your comment.

We are really sorry to hear about your experience of our ENT department at the Royal. It does not reflect the high level of service we expect our patients to receive. We would like to look into your concerns so we can improve our service for future patients. If you are happy for us to do so, please email your details to me - angharad.rastrick@uhl-tr.nhs.uk - and I'll investigate.

Kind regards,

Angharad Rastrick
