"Occupation therapy"

About: The Royal London Hospital

My brother of 86years old has had an operation at royal London. The staff has been wonderful and his treatment first class. I am not happy that he is being released without after care. He will be going home to no food and no help as he lives alone and has no family in London. We all his family live in Scotland and here in Scotland this would never happen. They would have rapid response in right away.he has been told to set up his own care. He is 86 and how is he suppose to do that as he will not know what to do.

I have asked twice today to speak to someone at occupational therapy and was promised that they would phone me today.

No phone call. i was under the impression that these people had a duty of care there is no care that I can see. My brother has worked and paid his taxes all his life and when he needs a little help it is not there for him

Thank you for contacting us, we are very sorry to hear that your brother was discharged without the appropriate after care. Please can you contact our Patient, Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 020 3594 2040 or by email pals@bartshealth.nhs.uk so we are able to get more details to check that your brother is okay and investigate what went wrong in this situation. The occupational therapist assess the function of all of the patients referred to them and liaise closely with their social services and community colleagues to ensure patients are discharged to as safe a situation as possible.

Kind regards

Barts Health NHS Trust
