"get an appointment with the GP"

About: NHS Grampian

(as the patient),

Trying to make an non urgent appointment at the GP. Called at 8:00am, and again every 5 mins for 30 mins. (each time I called there was a recording saying 'call back later') and finally when someone answered at 8:30am I was told that there were no longer appointments for that day. All I wanted was to make an appointment for another day, next week even, or even in two weeks from now and they said that was not possible I had to call again tomorrow.

My request: Please make it possible to make appointments in advance. Simply to call the surgery and request an appointment for another day or in a week even. This system of trying to call and beat the rush to get an appointment is silly, time consuming and stress inducing. I understand same day appointments need to be available for urgent patients but surely some portion of each day for at least some of the GP's in the practice could be allotted to advance appointments.

Dear concerned in Forres

Thank you for taking the time to post this feedback. I am very sorry you have had such difficulty getting an appointment with your GP Practice. I have forwarded your concern to the Practice Manager and asked her to explain the appointments system in use at Forress. Hopefully this will help you get the care you need in a less stressful way.

Kind regards,
