"life and eye sight saved by the unit"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

As post operative and critically ill patient, I developed a problem with one of my eyes. I was taken to see the consultant who acknowledged how ill I was and sent me back to the ward and came to see me there.

I was fortunate it was my consultant as after some tests he diagnosed Candida Chorioretinitis this can be fatal in critically ill people, they prescribed anti-fungal drugs to save life and then a series of injections to save my eyesight.

Over a two year period an excellent result has been achieved.

I am lucky to have been in the Royal Bolton Hospital as this enabled me to use the Eye Unit. A huge thank you to all the fantastic staff there

Dear Eileen, this must have been so worrying for you and your family. It is really heart warming to hear that all went well. Thank you for posting this. We wish you well.
