My mother made very many visits to Good Hope and was always treated with kindness and respect from the staff who cared for her. She even enjoyed the food! Staff kept me informed at all stages. This was as true when waiting in A&E as it was when on the wards.
During her last stay when it became evident that she was dying, the staff as a whole were absolutely wonderful - to me and to my mother. They ensured she was comfortable, they took time to comfort her , held her hand when I had to leave the room and paid her frequent visits throughout the night, including the doctor.
After she died, the care from the staff towards me was exemplary. They were sympathetic, practical and professional.
There were so many times I meant to write to praise Good Hope to counteract the negative press reports, but never got round to doing so. I hope this review goes some way to redress the balance.
