"Admission with chest pains on 9 June 2015"

About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

I received excellent treatment initially by paramedics and ambulance staff. I was then seen immediately and assessed by trauma staff at the hospital;they impressed with their approach and I was kept informed by them. No urgent treatment was considered necessary but I was advised that I would need another blood test 12 hours after my symptoms first appeared.

I was transferred to the Assessment Ward and eventually a further blood test was administered. This proved satisfactory but I could not obtain a discharge letter within three hours. I asked to discharge myself at 23.00 and eventually received a letter by post, advising that I should have an 'o/p stress test with F/U at ACC with the results'.

Now, almost 10 weeks later I have heard nothing from Luton and Dunstable. I phoned 3 times after 4 weeks and finally spoke to the secretary of the consultant who I saw.in hospital. They said they would come back to me in 2 days but that did not happen. Sadly, this gives a very poor impression of routine patient treatment at this hospital.

Why have simple actions not been taken? Does one have to show serious symptoms to be looked after? Why am I now faced with complaining about L & D to my GP to get some response?

This is also an example of money being wasted by the NHS and a reinforcement of my view from a 4 week stay in 2010 that treatment is poor unless you are a potential emergency. Much room for improvement in my view!
