"Nothing"

About: King's Mill Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

To say that this is a new unit there is still no visitors allowed, as i work on a day unit myself i think this is completly out of order, this makes the situation of being in hospital more nerve racking and uncomfortable for both parties. Another point i have to make is time effiecency, i had to be at the day case for 7.30am only to be told i was last on the list and that i could have a drink. Although you are not supposed to drink 6 hours before the procedure, I could have done this at home instead of being sat around until dinner time waiting for my operation. Why i couldn't have been given a later time i don't know i made me more nervous sat waiting not knowing what was going off.

Anything else?

Seriously need to acomodate visitors, and use time effectively!

Thank you for your comments which have been forwarded to the professional leads for the Day Case Unit. Please be reassured that hospital staff are used to caring for anxious nervous patients and would not feel at all uncomfortable. With regards to drinking prior to surgery, current practice is that patients are allowed to drink black tea/coffee or water up to 2 hours prior to surgery. If you would like to discuss your concerns in more detail please contact our Patient Advice team on 01623 672222.
