The treatment I received was appaling. I am diabetic. I have a kidney complaint. i was taken to hospital when my blood was very high. The staff immediately put me on a glucose drip! When my partner tried to query this he was repeatedly told it was 'protocol'. the staff would not speak to him quoting the Data Protection Act. I was so ill I couldn't question the decision myself. I was seen by a series of doctors none of whom seemed to know what the others had done. There was no co-ordination. I requested headache tablets but didn't see the nurse who said she would fetch them again. However a group of nurses sat at the front desk volubly discussing the patients, and I don't mean discussing their health. My family eventually discharged me when once again the staff insisted on applying a glucose drip (by this time the one of the random doctors had instructed this was not to happen). I was discharged with the wrong medication. I have had conflicting phone calls since, some saying my tests were clear, others that they were not and why am I not taking medication. There seems to be no communication with my GP. Individual nurses and doctors were kind. I am sure they are very able and trying their best. My real complaint is that no-one person seems to be able to co-ordinate treatment. This led in my case to a longer stay than necessary (and increased costs). Generally staff were unmotivated and there was obvious waste in terms of staff. I suggest the senior manager get out of his office and simply walk around the hospital unnanounced. As a tax payer I have serious concerns about the way this hpital is run. As a patient I am seriously concerned that my treatment made my condition worse. Somebody needs to sort this out. It isn't difficult. I have lost sympathy with a national health service that in principle i have always supported. Does 'moderation' mean censorship?
