"waitng time for hip replacement"

About: Kettering General Hospital

The NHS constitution states 18 weeks for surgery, I was told 6 months. still waiting. It appears that as a pensioner and retired mine is routine and clinical priority means that I have waited over six months and will have to wait at least another two months with clinical priorities being put in front of me. After working and paying all my contributions for over 50 years this is the treatment that you consider fair. PALS seem to support this way of working with a whole gamut of excuses. I have retired and have had to give up my little part time job I have also had to restrict my social activities I struggle to do any gardening, all I want is to have a reasonable standard of life for my remaining years and not have to wake up most nights in pain, is this really too much to ask for.the excuse that the consultant is very busy does not hold water as a professional person they should be able to manage their team and time to comply with the constitution drawn up by the NHS. This is just a note I do intend to escalate this issue to the highest level which may include the national press

I have read your comments in relation to the timing of your procedure and I would like to offer you my apologies for the delay. The Trauma & Orthopaedic consultant team have backlogs in their patient lists and we are working together as a team to get the waiting lists down. If you would like to discuss your circumstances with me then please call me on 01536 492000 and ask for extension 1765.
