"Still WAITING to see the ENT specalist"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as the patient),

Since 2009 I have seen 4 doctors about my vertigo. The first doctor basically said I was making it up. Second said the same. I saw the second one again and same.

In 2015 I took action and decided that I will make 2015 the year my vertigo goes away. I went to see a Dr at the Main Street doctors at Prestwick who gave me pills and exercises but they help at the time. I was referred me to the ENT specalist at Ayr Hospital.

Then hated the wait for the letter of the appointment I went to see a doctor at ENT who told me I had never been referred. I given up hope in the NHS Ayrshire and Arran system and am waiting for the realL referral letter that ENT Dr had said he will totally refer me.

But having doubts about that as I've have 4 doctors do nothing. It's took this long becuse I gave up hope in 2009.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Ross99,

I am really sorry your experience does seem to fall below what we expect for our patients. I know someone who suffers this and it can be very debilitating, it must be worth keeping pursuing it.

I wonder if it would be helpful if you could contact me and give me your name, date of birth and GP name/GP practice and I can at least check that you have had a referral to ENT.

If you do want to contact me, you can email me on eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or phone me on 01563 826222.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Dear Ross99,

Thank you for contacting me yesterday, I can now tell you that your referral to ENT was received on 4 August 2015. Unfortunately there is at least a 12 week wait for an ENT appointment at present. May I suggest that you contact the referral management service (RMS) on 01563 827070, every day if you can, and ask for a cancellation. I checked today for availability of a cancellation at the moment but I am sorry there is not. I have taken the liberty to flag your referral so that you will be offered a short notice appointment, please let me know if that is not the case. I also wonder, to help contact you at short notice if you could let me know a mobile number (by my personal email) which I can pass on to the RMS, or you can call them to verify your details. Take care and I hope it works out well for you.

Best wishes,

Eunice
