"Positive people feel pain less!"

About: Warwick Hospital

I was seen by a doctor after suffering from months of arm pain caused by an inadequate work station. I found some of the doctor's comments inappropriate, especially the one where a person with a more positive outlook would not notice the pain as much. I do have a history of depression and the doctor knew nothing about traumatic life events that triggered my depression. The BMI meaurement is problematic as although I agree I am overweight, I think the obese category is ridiculous for a person who wears size 14 clothes! In fact I am only one point over. I was also weighed in a heavy jumper and holding my handbag. The issue was not my weight but how long I have been suffering from considerable arm pain. I also did not think it was appropriate to ask a patient whether their partner was male or female. I do not want any further dealings with this consultant.
