"Lost dentures during long-term hospital care"

(as a relative),

My father is in long term hospital care at the City Hospital, Nottingham (nightingale ward). He is 70+, he has spinal damage and TB. The following three people helped my father get an initial appointment to have his dentures replaced. He, at the time of writing this has gone three months without dentures, dues to them being misplaced/lost in hospital. He has not eat solid food since! ! At present he is not able to walk and is completely bed-ridden. He feels like he’s lost his dignity and his confidence since losing his health and his dentures. Once I told Catherine Thaxter from the Clifton site, Nottingham) his story she did everything she could to push the initial consultation forward, along with Michelle King (dentist) and Adiana (dentist). Also Joy Miles from admin. I am aware of the long waiting-list but I am extremely grateful to them for taking our circumstances seriously and individually and pushing to help us a. s. a. p. I would like to thank them for the kindness and care they have shown. My mother + father, myself and grand children really appreciate it.

Yours faithfully

Thank you for leaving feedback. It is great so many staff have been helpful in your father’s care. From your description, it seems that staff you mention are not employed by NUH and are more likely to be employed by your father’s dental practice. However, if we could have a conversation about this that would be helpful and we can assist you as appropriate.

With regards to your father’s dentures which were lost on our ward, I would also be keen to talk to you about this or any aspect of your father’s care further – so that we can address any issues. I am on the ward today (14/8/15) if you want to come and chat, or alternatively you can contact me on 0115 969 1169 ext. 59764. If I am not there please do ask for the deputy sister (who I have briefed about your contact with us).

Kind regards,

Jeremy Burnside.

Ward manager, Nightingale 2.
