"Total Hip Replacement"

About: Spire Leeds Hospital

Spinal Left THR as a NHS patient under Choose and Book.

Listed after OPD at breech date:( but otherwise very efficient from consultant secretary. Pre op great bar the hibiscrub for 5 days?!

Admission awful, no personal care or empathy from ward or reception staff. Left for house with no information despite panic attack on arrival to ward (witnessed).

Anaesthetic staff lovely so I cried. Theatre staff nice, post op efficient, safe and friendly.

On ward food amazing and gorgeous, observations done and given buzzer. Discharged day 3 at my own insistence. Physio 2x day but different staff, brief visit from surgeon daily. Otherwise left all day for obds, buzzer often fell off bed, left for 40 mins once after ringing bathroom buzzer as 'stuck' on loo. Refused shower day 2 despite mobilising well. Day 3 agony and told need to stop Oxynorm prior to discharge and no tramadol for me ... so anxious had to wring own GP for med supply later that day ? ( and correct sick note) .

FU appts made including physio and discharge delayed for 1.5 hrs ( left 3pm) .

No complications and happy with leg length, function etc. Great surgical skill.

Elements of post traumatic staff still from lack of 'care' and personal interaction from nursing staff.. Although students seemed still 'human'.

We are very sorry to hear that you feel you have not received the high standard of service we always aim to deliver. Listening to and acting on feedback is important to us and we would like to take the opportunity to meet with you or talk to you on the telephone to discuss your experience. If you could also give us the date you visited the hospital, we would be able to look into this further.

We have a thorough process for considering any complaint we receive and look upon it as an opportunity to identify how we might improve our service; to arrange this, please contact me on telephone 0113 218 5901.

I hope to hear from you soon.
