"Really grateful for all they did"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

I was out with my Mum and Dad when we had to call an ambulance out for my Dad. He has severe back problems and had recently been in hospital so this was the first time we had all gone out together. After a while my Dad became tired and complained of his back aching so we sat him on a wall where he would be comfortable and able to rest. My Mum and I went to a shop nearby and when we got back my Dad was leaning against a lamp post close to where we had left him and almost passing out with the pain.

I called 999 as I was very concerned – a quick response paramedic team came almost immediately and were absolutely brilliant. They gave my Dad a thorough check up, laughed and joked with him to raise his spirits, and reassured us all. They thought it best to get my Dad home and took him in their responder vehicle.

Really grateful for all they did – thank you.

Hi Congress458

Thank you for taking time to share your story with us. I hope your father is feeling better now.

It is always so rewarding to hear how our staff are delivering excellent care to patients and reassuring their families when they need it most.

We would be very happy to pass on your kind words to the ambulance staff involved in your father's care, however we will need some additional information from you to do this. If you would like us to do this, may I ask you to contact the Patient Engagement Team on plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453831 and a member of the team will be happy to talk you through how we pass on thanks.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide our service with feedback.

Sara
