"Upset by discharge summary and wait for follow up"

About: Springfield University Hospital (London)

(as the patient),

Hi. I just left a specialist eating disorders unit at the trust. A few days later I got my discharge summary in the post.

It is incredibly explicit and for lack of a better word, triggering. I have not been offered a follow up appointment until 2 weeks after leaving, yet am expected to cope 24/7 alone after 9 months of very intensive care.

This seems particularly uncaring and thoughtless, which is shocking considering how "excellent" the service is meant to be. this is having a very detrimental effect on my condition. I am appalled.

I am really sorry that you feel this way and I am happy to talk to you about this and see if there is anything that our service could do differently. Please contact me on 0203 513 6728 if you would like to discuss anything further or if I can arrange to meet and talk through the discharge summary with you if that would be helpful. I do understand that discharge summaries are hard to read as there are very personal issues included and seeing them written down can be very difficult.

My contact number is 0203 513 6728. Best Wishes Jo.
