About: Specialist Nursing Services / Special needs dental service/Community Dental Service

(as a parent/guardian),

The specialist dental service was recommended to us via my sons PAG meeting at school. My son is autistic and had a very upsetting experience at 4 years old with another dentist. This has led him to refusing to even see a dentist up to now.

After 2 previous appointments where trust was built and the procedure explained, my son has now had work done (he is now nearly 16! )

The team are amazing and I am so happy that he feels able to have this much needed treatment now to prolong his dental health. We have another treatment in August and then can look at trying to get him to see our usual dentist so the service can be used for someone similar to my son.

I cannot thank the team enough for listening to him, working at his speed, not getting cross as all this little ways and questions and being my saviours xxx

As a service we love to hear stories such as yours. Knowing that the team has made such a difference to your son when visiting the dentist is fantastic.

We strive to ensure we listen to patients and work at their pace to achieve the best results, therefore its a huge boost to staff to know their care and patience has paid off.

Your son has made brilliant progress and I wish him all the best for the future, he should be really proud of himself!
