I had an ERCP on 6th August 2015 in the GRH endoscopy department. Treatment was good. Staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Just a couple of suggestions for improvement. I was told to turn up at 7:30 am, which I did, but I was not told in my appointment letter how soon after 7:30 am I would be treated. This made it difficult to give the person picking me up from the hospital an idea of when to come. Having reported to the hospital at 7:30, the staff did then keep me informed about when I would be treated, i.e. by midday, and did call the person who was to take me home to give them an idea of when they would be needed. Also, after my ERCP the person picking me up was called in, but it was quite a while after they arrived that I was discharged. It would have been better to call them after I had been given my discharge briefing, then they could have just turned up and picked me up immediately. I didn't mind the wait for my ERCP on the day, but it would have been helpful if my appointment letter had given me a rough idea of when I would be treated, e.g. by midday, and when I would be discharged, e.g. mid-afternoon, as it was in my case.
