"Colonoscopy 11th Aug 2015 (09:57)"

About: The Great Western Hospital

Since the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme found a "problem" with my test some weeks ago, I'd gradually become more anxious as to just what was going on inside of me and what might be found during a colonoscopy. I needn't have worried. From the receptionist to the doctor I was put at ease and fears vanished. Earlier I'd discovered what happens during a colonoscopy. I can honestly say, hand on heart, I didn't feel at all embarrassed. I put this down to everyone on the team being fully aware of how patients are feeling when in a totally strange situation. They were kindness itself. I know it could be said that they are seeing this day in and day out, but that wasn't at all how their attitude came over. That wasn't just me: a group of us sitting round, some after the procedure and others before, agreed that we all felt relaxed and safe. So a big thank you to you all.
