"A wonderful birthing experience at JR Maternity"

We had our little girl at the JR and could not recommend this hospital more. We had to be induced due to complications with a previous pregnancy. The induction 'ward' was fantastic. The organising mid-wife sat down with each patient and talked through their birth plan and preferences. My husband and I very much wanted a natural, water birth and thought that this would not be possible because we were induced. The mid-wife however went out of their way to ensure that we got the birth we wanted, using all natural non-interventionalist methods to induce labour. The midwife was supportive and helpful at all times and made us feel relaxed and respected during the entire process. After labour was established and it was confirmed that we had a low-risk pregnancy, we were transferred to the Spires. We were in the gorgeous Wyntham Room and it was absolutely perfect. The mid-wife we had at Spires was just as supportive and helpful, walking us through the options and assistance available. Our daughter was born in the birthing pool, just as we wanted, and it was an amazing, calm experience. She was completely healthy and we were discharged less than 12 hours after her birth. I cannot recommend the JR, Spires and water births enough. Thank you to the JR and all the mid-wives who were involved in our daughter's birth!
