This is the third time I have had to come to A&E at the North Mid in the last 18 months. All 3 times I have been triaged, had investigations done, been treated and been able to leave within 3 hours. The first time I had stuck a garden fork into my foot (!) and had a 3/4 inch wound. I was treated by a nurse - had xray to check nothing embedded in the wound, stitches, tetanus injection and given antibiotics in case of infection. Second time, I fell and tore the posterior cruciate ligament at the back of my knee. Again xray done, pain killers, knee brace fitted, crutches provided and I was given an appointment for the orthopaedic clinic the following day. I was also very impressed with the Physio service provided and the series of rehab sessions. Today I had flashing lights and 'floaters' in my eye. Went to A&E, sent round to specialist eye clinic, initial investigation and drops put in by the triage nurse, extensive careful investigation by doctor in the eye clinic. I've been given all the information needed about what to do next each time. This hospital seems to be frequently maligned on this site but my experience has been very good. Nurses, doctors and admin. have all been polite, helpful, caring. and skilled at their jobs. (A quick shout out to the people on the immediate front line - the front desk as you come in - giving good polite information, directions and offering help.) My thanks to the NHS for providing me with excellent appropriate care, free at the point of delivery.
"3 visits to A&E - very satisfied"
