"The ward Sister worked so very ..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The ward Sister worked so very hard to find beds for all of us booked in for operations, as did the other members of her team

What could be improved

Everything else - I waited almost 9 and half hours, from 8am until 5.15pm(6 of which were in a waiting area) t be told my operation was cancelled. This meant I had been without food or water (due to having to fast) for 22 hours. Despite asking earlier in the day for them to cancel me to relieve the pressure on themselves in find a bed etc (there were no beds available for the seven people that were booked in for 8am admissions) they refused stating that if I left that was my choice. Due to there being no beds available in the entire hospital operations did not start until about 11.30am which obviously put everything behind.

The registrar said it had been like this for weeks, the anaesthetist said that people were booked beyond the capacity of the wards on the belief that some would not turn up / cancel etc and the Staff Nurse on leaving asked my husband to get me to write in and complain because it had been like this for too long!!!

Anything else?

The female that came from the theatre (management) to offer her apologies thought everything could be made fine by offering food and drink before we left!! It was an absolute disgrace and I question the hospitals dignity policy when people are treated in such a disdainful way.
