"Appointments at the Eye Hospital and Eye Screening..."

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I am due to have a six month follow up appointment, or would if I had been given one. I tried to call the reception to find out what the hold up is. Not the first time I have had to chase up late appointments over the years. This time really takes the biscuit. Each time I called I was placed in a queue, That's fair enough, but not for a hour at a time. Then when I came off the queue I got the engaged tone or I was cut off. This happened for two days running, six hours each day. In the meantime I get an appointment to go for eye screening. I called them up and explained I was still seeing a consultant at the eye hospital for retinopathy and cataracts. In the past this has been enough to have the appointment cancelled. I was told, rather abruptly, that I had to attend because the eye hospital didn't do it right. So I attended. During the appointment I reiterated still seeing the consultant and the treatment for retinopathy and the cataracts. I then get a report, from their so called specialist, saying I have retinopathy and I have been referred to the eye hospital. They quite obviously did not listen to what I said, or bothered to check my med records. What a waste of time and money.
