"Problems obtaining repeat prescriptions"

About: NHS Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield CCG

(as the patient),

The past few months have been a huge trial with regards to obtaining my repeat prescriptions from Marlborough Surgery, Seaham Primary Care Centre. I have had one of these prescriptions for over a decade and other ones for over a year. There have been shortages in some of my medications so I switched to Boots chemist instead of the local surgery chemist as Boots have more pull in getting medications that are in low supply. Boots aren't the problem here, they have gone to great lengths to give me my medication when my prescriptions are available. The problem is that my prescriptions are rarely available!

A few months ago I was told that I had nothing on repeat and I complained at reception, where, to cut a long conversation short, I was told that it was a computer error that was something to do with the fact that I had changed address (incidentally I had to tell the surgery multiple times about my new address before they actually updated their records). I was told it would be sorted and sure enough I was able to obtain my medication again... But only once.

I have just found out that I once again have nothing on repeat and I have no idea why my repeat prescriptions keep being cancelled, nobody is telling me anything about this. The communication is poor and I was even told by the receptionist in the phone today that 'repeat prescriptions are only for people who are on medications permanently'... Which I am! !

I have a doctor's appointment next week, I had to rearrange it in order to get a double slot to discuss this matter as I was actually supposed to be having this appointment to discuss something else entirely. This is ridiculous, I am not happy with the number of problems I have had trying to get the medication I have been receiving for years and I have found the responses from reception unsympathetic to the distress caused by having problems getting the medications that I need.
