What I liked
I attended outpatients for a mole removal in involving a local anesthetic. I was seen promptly by the consultant and it was removed and I had left the hospital within half an hour.
What could be improved
The receptionist totally ignored all patients as they arrived and continued to look at his computer screen despite the fact that they were 2 feet away and clearly in his sight. After 2 or 3 minutes of silence he eventually said how can I help you? Surely it is basic politeness to acknowledge immediately that a patient has arrived and is waiting and if necessary say a cheery "Good morning I will be with you in a minute". His refusal to acknowledge anxious patients on arrival makes the ordeal of hospital procedures worse and a feeling of unimportance for the patient. Why hasn't he been given basic training by the management?
Anything else?
I would like to see hand washing gels at every entrance to clinics if possible.
