"Out patient KTC hand unit"

Referred to Derby Royal specialist hand unit from Grantham. From the onset of my visit to the dept as an out patient was initially impressed about the feel of the hospital. This feeling continued on meeting the staff manning the hand unit reception who were all extremely polite and professional. Failing to arrive without any paperwork obviously created additional work for them but didn't phase them. This continued throughout the morning from the nursing staff who were absolutely lovely and caring. Consultant, who I believe new to the team, very thorough and once again additional requirements from Grantham added to workload, not phased at all keeping me in the picture constantly. The whole team from reception to the person taking detail for admittance for Surgery, outstanding. Surgery Fri 7 August. Arrival reception warm and swift and waiting very room comfortable and clean. Echo the above, from pre-ops procedure to post surgery, the whole team absolutely excellent. Got to mention the Anethetist in their important role, very reassuring, kind and amusing and looked after me. Theatre nurse on arrival absolutely lovely and caring. The surgeon more than happy to chat away about the procedure as I was keen to know. The rest of the theatre nurses were all characters, happy in their work as singing away, namely in the memory of Cilla Black! Post surgery, there was no feel of rush, a need for you to go. All at calm pace with plenty of attention, tea and biscuits. What a warm fuzzy feeling I left with. If I was to have surgery again tomorrow, there would be no reservation what so ever.
