"Vascular Scanning Team"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

I was booked in, yesterday, for an ultrasound scan of my leg as part of an investigation into why a long-standing leg ulcer had deteriorated and quadrupled in size over the last few months. My carer and I turned up with considerable trepidation, fearing that the scan would involve pressure on the ulcer, the pain of which Is, at the best of times, barely manged by my current medication. From the first moment, we were put at ease by the friendliness and professionalism of the reception staff. We were called through at the allotted appointment time and met a member of staff who was to handle my scans. They explained fully what the procedure would involve, why the procedure was being carried out and what the functions of arteries and veins are. They were friendly and professional in the extreme and her patience with my disabilities and the restrictions they imposed on me in adopting the necessary positions for the procedures was exemplary. Lest you think I may be a "serial complaint/congratulatory letter writer, I have to tell you that this is only the fourth example I have ever issued (and now two of those have been to QA departments. With very many thanks and congratulations from both my carer and me, Regards, John King.
