Had to have umbilical hernia op, went to preop to find it had been cancelled without telling me. Receptionist kept refusing to tell me date of new appointment as I'd get it in the post! When I did go to preop the support workers were brilliant and very friendly. Then went to see nurse and they were very blunt. Made me feel I couldn't ask questions. On day of surgery reception staff were lovely and took me through. I was placed in corner of room on a very uncomfortable chair where all I could see was the toilet door. My dad had been working away and only managed to get to hospital 30 mins after me. Others waiting had a friend or family member with them, but as we hadn't arrived together he wasn't allowed through! Spent 3 hours waiting for an op, while he waited the other side of a door! Surgeon and team were friendly but did feel like I was being rushed when talking to them. Went for anaesthetic and was put at ease as nurse help my hand and was told my dad would be there when I woke up. Woke up at 4, told I wasn't allowed to see my dad as no room for anyone's family (don't tell me he will be there if your not allowing it). At 420 a nurse bought my bag over put it on floor and said get dressed and left. After this surgery in not allowed to lift and certainly couldn't bend to get into bag without considerable pain. By 5 I was being sent home, as my teeth were chattering and I was shivering, still barely able to see straight. No post op, just given a bandage to put on when original comes of in shower, bandage too small and sticky tape would be on scar line, so would pull when comes off and again cause more pain! Beyond unimpressed
