"Hell"

About: Woodbourne Priory (birmingham)

This was my first inpatient unit and until I went into another hospital/heard other peoples stories, I thought the standard of care there was normal. I won't say it was all bad, because that would be a lie, but it was not a comfortable experience. I'll give you a brief overview of my case. I got diagnosed with anorexia in the summer of 2014 and spent 3 weeks on a paediatric ward, however the reason I was admitted to the Priory was because of depression. I'll start with the good things: TVs in your bedroom A proper teacher Good food Presents at christmas The weekly excursion was something good There is a good book/game selection Ensuite and private room However, there were some not very nice things which happened: Rude/inconsiderate comments from the staff Unequal care - whilst everyone else had to get up and go to bed on time, one boy refused and when he was out of bed, he went on the Xbox all day and left his rubbish everywhere. The staff did very little to stop this. We only got out for 5 minutes a day, if at all, unless it was the weekly excursion. The food often came up cold They changed my diet plan, even though my current one was working. The therapies barely ever ran. The only ED snacks where biscuits. One member of staff was particularly rude and many others were prejudice. They didn't notice marks on my neck from a ligature. A girl punched a wall and despite her hand being swollen, they refused to treat her, because 'it was her choice'. When someone ran away they kept us locked in the living room and wouldn't tell us what was happening.
