My father was referred by his doctor on 22nd June 15 to this department because he has a very high level of inflammation in his body which is affecting his arm and leg very badly. He is in so much pain all the time, his leg, ankle, foot and hand are very swollen he can hardly lift his arm and barely walk or do anything he used to do. His doctor is unable to give him any medication for these symptoms apart from co-codamol which have no affect. He can't take other medication because he has heart and stomach problems. I rang my father's doctor today because of the state my father is in, the doctors secretary rang this department and was told they have my father's referal but it hasn't been graded yet and it can take up to 12 weeks and there is no thought of any appointment at this moment. This is just not good enough. I've tried and tried ringing your department myself today and just cannot get through. I understand you are busy and all working hard but I will not sit back and see my father suffer for another six weeks while you decide what grade he is and when you are finally going to give him an appointment. It might be different if he could take something but he cannot and quite honestly you wouldn't let a dog suffer like this.
