Back in January my podiarist, Gp and a second podiatrist reffered me to be seen about a problem in my foot that all 3 said needed surgery . The surgeon said they didnt want to perform surgery because I am overweight and at risk (I have had three operations in the last 3 years and was even bigger then ) and that the healing may be lengthy because of the fragility of the skin (it's now 7 months later and I am still in a lot of pain and discomfort any way ) . The surgeon sent me to physiotherapy where the physiotherapist told me they didn't know why I was sent there as it isn't a tendonopothy. I was referred to Orthotic podiatry who supplied gel heels for shoes and a pair of orthotic shoes neither of which have solved the problem or eased the pain. The surgeon has then referred me to get an MRI scan which I didnt receive the appointment letter for so went down as a DNA so I went for the rearranged one yesterday where I was turned away because the MRI department have no acess to my NHS records so didn't know what make or model number the gastric band I have so couldn't do the scan without knowing . I have told the surgeon (and any one else I have seen) that I had the band done as the foot discomfort is slowing the weight loss due to not being as mobile as I had been getting so I cannot understand why this was not in any notes. As I live in Heaton getting to and from North Tyneside Hospital is a time consuming and expensive trek as I do not drive and have lost lots of time at work with the numerous appointments . Whilst I appreciate that my problem isnt life threatening or any where near top priority I do feel very frustrated by what seems like a lack of communication between the departments in the 7 months + that I have been attending the appointments I have been sent to. The gastric band operation already performed is being negated by this as I can't combine the diet with the exercise needed to continue get the weight off that I need to.
"lack of communication"
