"Fantastic and hard working team!"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

My daughter of 3yrs had grommets fitted at the Ambulatory Care Unit back in June of this year. As a mum I felt quite anxious on the day of my daughters procedure. As we entered the unit we were greeted with smiles and taken into the playroom. My daughter felt happy enough to instantly play with a range of activities provided. Shortly after, we were met by another member of staff who needed to do some pre-checks. The member of staff was very calming, attentive and reassuring towards both us as parents and our daughter. They explained to my little girl that she needed to wear some Elsa gloves on her hands, which was actually to cover where the needles would go during anaesthetic. I thought that this was a lovely idea and my daughter was so impressed at wearing her Elsa gloves. Before the procedure we met a couple of anesthetists who were again very calming and reassuring about the imminent procedure. Overall, I felt that there were high standards of patient care which were met by all. Individuals are clearly dedicated and work very hard as a team which make for a happy unit. Thank you

We are very lucky to have such committed and hardworking staff working across NUH, including in our Ear, Nose and Throat Service. It’s good to hear that you felt your daughter was safe in our care and that our teams were able to make you feel at ease. I’ll make sure the whole team read your kind words. Best wishes to you and your daughter, Dorothy Bean. Matron, Family Health.
