My wife fell and crushed a vertebrae - leading to extreme pain in her back. We went to A&E in our car. She was given pain killers had an Xray within 20 minutes and was put on a trolley to minimize any further damage. They were very busy (Holiday time) and after 2 hours we saw a doctor who confirmed the injury as a crushed vertebrae. The doctor recommended that my wife spent the night in the observation ward so that she could be checked out by physiotherapists next morning. There was a delay getting on the ward so we were given sandwiches as it was about 8.30pm They rang me at 9.30 next morning to bring her home. We were dealt with in a courteous and friendly manner and felt involved in all the decisions. 3 days later we received a phone call to check my wife was OK and to say that a specialist had checked the Xray and confirmed the diagnosis.
