I am posting this at 5am as I have just had a very uncomfortable and sleepless night after having an MRI head and neck. There was no receptionist on arrival in the imaging unit. The hand sanitisers dispensed a meagre amount of foam that would barely be enough for a childs hand. The imaging staff did not move the leg support so I had to remain rigid for 25 minutes which has caused my muscle pain keeping me awake. Although the imaging staff seemed pleasant at first but I noticed how differently NHS patients were treated after my scan. The lady before me was spoken to differently - they said "well done we are finished and are bringing you out" (, they also made sure she knew the way out (it is poorly signposted) all I got was we are done and brought me out, the "table" which at first the nurse operating it seemed reluctant to lower, I got the impression they expected me to jump down - very different from Barnsley where I wanted to go - their staff take great care of patients. I also noticed that when my scan was done unlike the previous lady, I was totally ignored as they were then with what appeared to be another private patient who I overheard them telling how long the scan would take - again I wasn't given this courtesy. I definitely got the impression I was taking their break time. Would not reccommend this hospital and cannot understand why I had to have my MRI in Sheffield as the Barnsley Hospital web site says" the Barnsley Hospital’s medical imaging department is now among the most modern in the country." (the last bit in quotation marks was cut an pasted from their web site".
"Seem to treat NHS patients very differently"
