Went to York hospital to access the walk in GP assessment facility. Thorough assessment although a little lengthy. Conclusion required more investigation. The Dr providing the feedback could have been a little more delicate and realistic in their feedback and I believe could have perhaps studied the X-ray a little closer as their colleagues who later reviewed the same X-ray certainly discovered more from it than they did. I was then referred to the AMC unit on ward 24. I couldn't praise this service enough. Highly professional staff very highly qualified team who were human and caring in their approach. Not sure how innovative this service is but I understand that this unit is aimed at keeping hospital admissions down. The benefit to me was that I received great care, detailed assessment and treatment as well as not being admitted. I hope this unit can continue so it can prove its cost effectiveness. And I accessed this service on a Friday (after office hours) and a Saturday and was offered an appointment on Sunday if it was required.
