"day surgery July 2015"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

i had a incision hernia operation in July 2015 and overall it was a positive experience. All the nurses I had contact with were very friendly and put me at ease, as I was quite nervous. The only issue I had was that I was told to remove the dressing and clean the wound myself, I would rather this be done by a medical professional, so I have made an appointment with my Surgery and a nurse will do this. It would also be helpful to a patient if information was provided in relation to bathing post the operation. Having sought advice I will now be using Johnsons all-in-one baby wash which is more gentler to the skin and the wound.

Dear Margaret, Many thanks for your kind comments posted recently on the NHS Choices website regarding your recent visit to our Surgery Day Case Unit. Our staff try hard to provide a high standard of care to all our patients and receiving such positive feedback is always appreciated. I will certainly ensure that your comments are shared with the relevant staff, including your feedback on the cleaning of your wound and helpful additional patient information. Many thanks, once again, for taking the time to provide us with this important information and may we take this opportunity to wish you very best wishes for the future. Kind regards Patient Experience Team for Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
