"I booked into the A & E department ..."

About: Stafford Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

I booked into the A & E department at 10:50pm and waited. I waited two and half hours without being seen. I wasn't even seen by a nurse. Other hospital that I have been to, you have to book in at reception then you see a nurse who dresses wounds, offers pain drugs and make initial assessment so that you can been seen quicker.

However Stafford offers none of this, the most you get is a seat and a very nice receptionist and a very long wait in which you drink, eat food and use the bathroom by which time you have lost the will to live.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about our services. At Stafford Hospital we operate the system you describe as Nurse Triage from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m daily; we recognise the need to extend this to 24 hours a day and are currently investigating how this can be achieved. Your comments have been forwarded to our Patient Experience Lead.
