I want to thank the staff in A&E. I visited the dept. unfortunately twice in 2 days due to a miscarriage and very heavy blood loss. The staff was so considerate and I was seen by a nurse and led to a cubicle very quickly. The A&E was not very busy, and I believe that was due to the effective management of patients. I immediately felt safe. They kept monitoring my blood pressure and temperature, and did some blood tests to reassure that my haematocrit was satisfactory. I was treated with a lot of dignity. My only criticism is that they don't do pregnancy scans in A&E; they ask you to come back the next day to the Early Pregnancy Unit, so you remain in limbo until you find out exactly what's happening. However, I am not sure if this is something that happens specifically in St Thomas' or if it is a more widespread NHS protocol. Finally, I was sent a very short survey on performance via my mobile, and I would be very happy to fill it, but my telephone provider does not allow sms to be sent to 80870. I highly recommend this hospital's A&E. Thank you!
"Very good experience in A&E"
