I had a small surgical procedure in May at Basildon A&E & needed to have the dressing changed on a regular basis to keep it clean & assist the healing process. After a week of District Nurses I was seen by either my GP's nurses or when necessary at the MIU. I was seen in the MIU when the referral to DN wasnt received & on many subsequent occasions when it was not possible to be seen at GP. On every visit the staff, from reception to nurses, were always welcoming & friendly. I was always seen quite quckly (apart from one time when they had an emergency & then they kept us informed & apologised for the wait) , I was always advised as to how the wound was healing & was never made to feel that I shouldnt be there. Indeed on one visit the nurses were able to identify a problem that had been overlooked at GP & make an adjustment in the dressings. It can be busy in the mornings but if you have the luxury of attending later in the day the waiting times are much better. I was also advised of the opening hours so I never attended too late in the day!
