"waiting results"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

My husband has cancer and came to Basingstoke (not our local hospital) to receive a template biopsy on his prostrate. Rooms were clean and staff were extremely helpful and kind. Rushed off their feet, but had time to answer all questions. We were advised when leaving hospital the results will be 10 days, but no longer then 3 weeks. It has been 6 weeks and to date we do not have any results. You should not set a patience expectation if it cannot be reached. This isnt a broken toe we are talking about, 6 weeks is far too long for someone so young not knowing how bad the cancer is. If you are so behind on getting results, maybe this side of the business should be looked at You have a job to do and I understand the pressure you work with every day, but this does not help the patient. You must receive more calls via people chasing results which takes up more time. Maybe reviewing someone that is waiting longer than 4 weeks should take priority. This has let the hospital down and we are very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback on our urology service. I know the team are in contact with you to resolve this urgently but I am very sorry for the distressing impact of the delay caused by our diagnostic capacity problem which is now being resolved.
