"Poor communication"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

I was booked in to have my gallbladder removed on 6th July at the Treatment centre for day surgery. My husband and my mum took time off work and I had to warn my workplace that I would be off for a week or so. I arrived at the Treatment centre and was booked in, saw the anesthetist, a surgeon and a nurse, I signed the consent forms and changed into my gown and stockings ready to be called for my operation. I was then informed that I would not be having my operation today as the surgeon performing my operation wanted me to have an MRI scan to make sure no stones were stuck in my bile duct. This in itself is confusing as I was told by the consultant in April that I would be checked for any stuck stones at my pre-assesment. I had an MRI in February and only found out on 6th July that there were 2 stones stuck in my bile duct as no one informed me. I actually should have had an ERCP at this stage but this was obviously missed. You can imagine how upsetting this is to have your operation cancelled last minute.. I accepted this and was given no further explanation by staff. I had my MRI scan on 12th July and I am still waiting to find out the results. I have tried ringing the secretary of the surgeon on a couple of occasions and left a voice message, with no response or reply to date. I am now concerned that I have just disappeared from the system and will be left without any further action. I am hoping that writing this review will perhaps nudge someone into action. Overall I am very disappointed with the service I have received. I would appreciate if someone could contact me regarding this, as I have absolutely no clue what else to do!!
