As a slightly over weight infertile woman struggling with my symptoms of Polycyctic Ovary Disease I was disgusted with the treatment I got from the specialist I saw. Not only had this specialist not read any of my notes or looked at my recent test results and ultrasounds but they were completely ride to me about my weight suggesting that if I just lost weight all would be right in the world, and then and only then would they treat me. I have never been so appalled by any doctor. Yes my weight is an issue, but it's also a symptom and they wouldn't help in any aspect of trying to help me regain a normal cycle, to ovulate or solve some of the problems that are affecting me on a daily basis. They said I had to lose a large amount of weight before they gave me any kind of help, for any issues I had. As far as I am concerned I should have been treated with the same respect as any other woman, over weight or not. Not simply made to feel like a fat mess that has caused the infertility problems by eating cake three meals a day. My diet is extremely healthy and I excercise regularly, but the weight does not come off. Telling me I need a better diet (can't get much better than what I have now) is the answer to getting help from a doctor. Any larger lady wanting help from the NHS for fertility issues, I suggest you look else where. They were not a "fat friendly doctor"
