"Day surgery"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

chair in pod had stained cushion On return from surgery even though the operated area was now bandaged and not leaking when sheets were removed there were old bandages covered with blood, the sheets were covered with blood and blood also on the pillow which was nowhere near the operated area. This should have all been cleaned before return to pod. No privacy curtains in pods all open for people to glare at you No staff to help young man in bed opposite, if it wasn't for my mam helping him he would have been sick on himself and floor after his surgery, he was obviously very embarrassed

We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience in our surgery centre, and the experience you describe falls short of the one we aim to provide for patients and relatives. We've passed on this feedback to the matron in charge of the area to look into this and learn from it.
