"Equipment to help me at home"

About: South Ayrshire Home Care

(as a service user),

I had to complete a survey about what I needed to help me at home and someone came out to visit me. They decided to give me a raised toilet chair, a shower chair and something to help me get out of bed.

The toilet chair was fixed to the floor but the plastic seat was too narrow. They told me it only came in one size, but in Overmills they have 3 sizes. I gave the seat back.

I don’t use the chair in the shower while I’m having a shower but I do sit in it once I’m finished.

I tried using the thing in my bed but it kept waking me up and I couldn’t get a good nights sleep so I gave that back too.

Now I’m waiting for them to get back to me, I don’t know what’s to happen next.

I am sorry to hear that you have received such a poor service. Unfortunately it is unclear to me who assessed you, I don't know if this was a hospital based or a community based Occupational therapist who dealt with you. I would like to offer you assistance but do not have your name and address.

I can see that you attend our Overmills daycare, I would ask you to let one of the staff members there know of your difficulties, then this information can be acted on in order for us to resolve your difficulties.
